Niota, TN-- St. Andrews University golfer Sadiyya Gillespie won the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational (AAC Fall Championship) on Tuesday as her 79 in round one and 81 in round two was good enough to tie for first with Audrey Nelson of Bryan College, the Lion's number 1 player.
Those two then went head-to-head in a one hole playoff to determine the winner and Gillespie came out on top as she parred the hole to defeat Nelson.
SAU ended up finishing in 6th place in the 9 team field with 713 strokes. Trevecca Nazarene University won the invitational with a score of 677 while Union College placed 2nd.
Also placing for the Knights was sophomore Laura Kinsman who shot an 85 today on her way to a fourth place overall finish with a score of 162 to gain All-Tournament honors.
Freshman Sheridan Dillon-Robinson shot a 102 Tuesday for a 2 day score of 194 to finish 37th overall and third on St. Andrews while Christina Agosto finished tied for 40th after firing a 101 for a total score of 201. Dara Legard then improved by 10 strokes over Monday and shot a 98 to place 42nd in the 49 player event.
The Lady Knights are next on the course October 7-9 as they take part in the Sandhills Invitational (hosted by Sandhills C.C.) at Whispering Pines Country Club in Whispering Pines, NC.
