Alamogordo, NM- Former St. Andrews University baseball pitcher Joe McCarty, (who graduated in 2014) is now playing professionally for the White Sands Pupfish in the Pecos League in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It is an independent level league team.

McCarty is 5-2 so far this summer with an ERA of 4.44 in 52.2 innings pitched. He has started 7 games and appeared in 16 while giving up 71 hits, 26 earned runs, 20 walks and 40 strikeouts with a 1.38 WHIP (walks+hits/inning).

McCarty ranked second last season on St. Andrews in ERA and wins with 6 while leading in innings pitched with 80 and strikouts with 46.
