Laurinburg, NC—The St. Andrews University softball coaches, Elizabeth Burris and Christy McPartlin would like to announce the signing of 6 new recruits for next season.

The Lady Knights have signed 3 from North Carolina, one from South Carolina, one from New Jersey and another from Arizona. In all, there is a catcher, a pitcher, 2 primary outfielders, and 2 infielder/outfielders.

Kaelin Packer is a catcher who hails from Prescott, Arizona and comes to us from South Mountain CC where she was an NJCAA Academic All-American and named as the defensive player of the year. She also had a .300 average her sophomore year while leading the team in doubles. During her high school days at Prescott, she was named the offensive player of the year as well as the MVP. She was also named to the 1st team all-area and was the 18 and under national champion as well as achieving recognition in basketball and badminton while in high school. Packer will come in as a junior and plans to major in Athletic Training/Physical Therapy.

Elizabeth Shaffer comes to St. Andrews from Kittatinny Regional HS in Layton, NJ. She is a centerfielder who batted .353 last season and slugged .559 while having an on-base percentage of .463 for an OPS of 1.022. She plans to major in Equine Business.

Kelston "Skeeter" Hilton, from Berkeley HS in Moncks Corner, SC comes to St. Andrews as a lefty. She can play all 3 outfield positions and is known for her speed and slap bunt and plans to major in business administration or childhood education.

The Lady Knights next have Samantha Lowder of West Stanly HS in Stanfield, NC coming to play. Lowder's high school team won the state championship in 2013 and is coming to school to play second base and outfield and plans to major in forensic psychology.

Next is Summer Jacobs of Ellerbe, NC. She went to school at nearby Richmond Senior HS in Rockingham. In high school, Jacobs was named All-conference, All-district, All-state and named to the A & B Honor Roll. Primarily playing as a pitcher, Jacobs went 16-2 as a junior while pitching 114 innings with 83 strikeouts and a 1.10 ERA while hitting .378. Her senior year was even better as she not only batted .400 but was 27-1 on the mound while throwing 185 innings with 160 strikeouts and a 1.24 ERA. Jacobs can also play shortstop and third base. She plans to major in physical education at SAU.

Finally, the Lady Knights softball team has signed Roxboro, NC native Jasmine McCain, a 5`9" infielder/outfielder out of Person HS. Her team last year was 13-5 while she batted .488 with 4 home runs and 16 RBIs. McCain played varsity for all four years and was named a 2-time defensive MVP and a 2013 all-tournament team member while winning the PAC 6 Conference.

All six of these talented recruits are hoping to help the Lady Knights improve on last year's third place tournament finish and 18 wins, which were the most in years at St. Andrews. SAU returns 14 of last years' team members while only graduating two.
