Cleveland, Ga.- The St. Andrews University baseball team used their quality pitching to squeak by conference foe Truett-McConnell College (Ga.) on Saturday taking both games of the twin bill. St. Andrews won the first 4-1 and game two 3-2 where pitcher Chris Fee (JR/Orlando, FL) came within two outs of throwing a no-hitter. TMC, however, came out victorious in game one on Friday 2-1.

Senior starting pitcher Joe McCarty (SR/Martinez, GA) picked up the win in game one of the doubleheader as he threw 6 innings of one run ball with 5 strikeouts to improve to 4-5 while reliever Evan Tucker (SO/Wake Forest, NC) threw a scoreless 7th to pick up the save and lower his ERA to 0.95.

Driving in runs in the win were DH Matthew Beauchemin (JR/Pembroke Pines, FL) as he drove in two with center fielder Tyler Radcliff (JR/Burgaw, NC) going 2 for 4 with an RBI while 2B Richard Campolong (SR/Jacksonville, NC) also drove in a run. The Knights also stole four bases in the victory, one each by: Kyle Schade (JR/Dunkirk, MD), Radcliff, Campolong, and Rickey Schattauer (JR/Marietta, Georgia).

The story of game two was Fee's near no-hitter as he still settled for 7 stellar innings giving up 4 hits and 2 runs (all in the 7th inning) with 3 strikeouts to improve to 7-0 on the year and lower his ERA to 1.51. Radcliff again led the offense as he went 3 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base scoring two runs and driving in another as he reached base 4 times. Beauchemin also knocked 2 hits and had one RBI while Michael Durig (SR/Valrico, FL) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as well.

St. Andrews improves to 22-17 on the season and moves to fifth in the AAC at 11-10 while TMC falls to 11-31 overall (6-15 AAC).

SAU will finish out their home schedule with a three game series vs. Milligan College (19-16) starting with game one on Friday at 3 pm. The Knights will then honor their seniors on Saturday beginning at Noon. However, St. Andrews will first visit Voorhees College (SC) on Wednesday at 3 pm in a non-conference bout.
