Athens, TN- The St. Andrews University softball team rolled to a doubleheader sweep over conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon ousting them 5-2 in game one and 11-6 in game two.

St. Andrews scored 4 runs in the third inning of game one to take the commanding lead before starting pitcher Kimberly Cook (FR/Ocean Isle Beach, NC) would only relinquish 2 runs the rest of the way en route to her fifth win. Cook, now 5-5 gave up 8 hits but only 2 runs with 4 strikeouts over all 7 innings.

Leading the offense was multi-hit games from 3B Amber Madden (SR/Sicklerville, NJ) and catcher Autumn Price (JR/Vacaville, CA) who each had two apiece while Mary Cross (JR/Middleburg, FL), Kelsey Lee (JR/Erwin, NC), and Madden all drove in runs. Lee and DP Kori Ballard (FR/Kersaw, SC) led with doubles while Madden also stole two bases.

Game two was much better offensively as the teams combined for 17 runs and 23 hits while Madden again led the way with 2 home runs in her big 3 for 3 game with 4 RBIs. Also playing well in game two were Ballard, who went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Cross, who hit a three-run homer. Jen George (JR/Xenia, OH) also went 2 for 4 while Lee knocked 2 hits. Madden led the team with not only three hits but 10 total bases as she, Ballard, and George all smacked doubles. Cross, Price, and Brooke Sikes (FR/Warrenton, NC) also stole bases in the win.

The Lady Knights got off to a 4-1 lead again before the Lady Bulldogs cut it to 4-3 in the 4th. However, SAU would pile on after that with 3 more in the fifth and 4 more in the 7th to roll to the big win. Reliever Corinne Eosso (SO/Moyock, NC) (4-3) picked up the win for SAU as she threw 4 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 earned runs and 2 walks with one strikeout.

St. Andrews improves to 14-15 overall and 7-3 in the conference while TWC drops to 10-20 overall and 6-8 AAC. St. Andrews is back at it on Wednesday at Virginia Intermont College. That doubleheader began with a St. Andrews win, 4-1. Game two is underway.
