Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University baseball team brought the same offensive intensity to Saturday's first game, winning 14-6 and out hitting Bryan 17 to 11. The Knights scored almost every inning as starting pitcher Chris Fee (JR, Orlando, FL) only allowed to Lions to score 6 runs (3 earned) throughout the six innings he was on the mound.
Excelling on offense in game one was junior centerfielder Tyler Radcliff (JR, Burgaw, NC) who went 3 for 5 with five RBIs and two doubles, and scored three runs for the Knights. Junior leftfielder Kyle Schade (JR, Dunkirk, MD) also went 3 for 4, with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. DH Matthew Beauchemin (JR, Pembroke Pines, FL) also played well going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Michael Luing (JR, Panama City, FL) continued his hot streak going 2 for 3.
Game two against the Lions was a much closer competition as the Knights and Lions both fought for the lead over each other. Although the Knights out hit the Lions 13-10, when the seventh inning came, the Knight were down 5-6. With two on base from the first three at bats, Schade singled and brought home another run, tying the game at 6 with only one out. Senior first baseman Tyler Jordan (SR, Statesville, NC) then hit the walk off single, allowing right fielder Michael Durig (SR, Valrico, FL) to score the winning run and win the series for the Knights.
Durig led SAU offensively in game two with a three-run homer in the first inning, giving him four RBIs and two runs total. He now leads the team in home runs with 3 and RBIs with 19 while Luing is seocnd in average at .382 to Jordan's .407. The team is also now hitting .294 on offense as they have won 7 of their last 8. St. Andrews has also scored at least 7 runs in 7 of their last 8 games.
This coming week, St. Andrews (13-9, 5-4 AAC) will return to action to host Erskine College (SC) on Thursday at 2 pm.
