Laurinburg, NC – The St. Andrews University baseball team lost game one of their three game series to the Bryan College (TN) Lions 10-7 on Friday afternoon but came back to take the next two on Saturday at Clark Field.
St. Andrews lost the first game in an offensive battle against Bryan, as both teams scored four runs in second inning. St. Andrews took a one-run lead in the third but Bryan came back with another run scored in the fourth and then scored four more runs in the fifth, sealing the fate for the Knights. Both teams combined for 30 hits and 6 errors in a game that did not include much pitching.
SAU was led by left fielder Kyle Schade (JR, Dunkirk, MD) and third baseman Michael Luing (JR, Panama City, FL)'s three hit games while Luing and senior first baseman Daniel Whitecavage (SR, Huntersville, NC) hit home runs in the seventh and in the ninth to pull St. Andrews closer. 2B Blain Turner (JR, Holden Beach, NC) also hit a three-run double for the Knights. However, the Lion's offense was too much to overcome in the end.
