Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University women's lacrosse team lost their first conference game of the season on Saturday falling 16-9 to the Eagles of Reinhardt University at Knights Field.
After Reinhardt scored the opening goal, senior Jackie Jones led the Lady Knights right down the field to tie it at one. However, RU would go into the half with a 10-4 lead as they began to gain possession by winning 17 draw controls throughout the game.
The Eagles would then add on just 6 more goals in the second half, barely outscoring the Knights 6-5 to go on to win and improve to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the league.
St. Andrews was led by senior Catherine Lovallo's three goals while Jones and sophomore Anastasia Schultz scored two apiece. Also scoring for the Knights was junior Risa Wautel and freshman Hunter Harrison. Assisting on the goals were Harrison, Lovallo, and Jones with one apiece.
Freshman Jazlee Diaz started in goal for the Lady Knights and played well making five saves on 15 shots in the first half while fellow goalie Blake Forkner then made 5 more saves on 11 shots in the second half.
RU was led by Ashley Gongas' five goals.
St. Andrews (0-2, 0-1 AAC) will now prepare for their first road game of the season on Wednedsay when they make the ride to Columbia, SC to battle Columbia College (0-2) at 4 pm.
