Pembroke, NC- The St. Andrews University wrestling team fell 39-6 Wednesday night to their nearby rival, UNC-Pembroke in the War on 74 rivalry. With the win UNCP takes the inaugural War on 74 trophy as they have also beaten Belmont Abbey (NC) this season, the other team in the three team series.
Winning for St. Andrews on the night were undefeated 125 pound senior Chauncey Foster and junior 149 pounder Kody Getkin. Foster improves to 14-0 with his 11-5 win over UNCP's Dontae Brown while Getkin used a 5 point move in the first period to hang on and win 6-5 for his 7th win in a row improving to 8-5 on the year.
Other close bouts included freshman 165 pounder Jemson Villard as he fell 7-5 in overtime to the Braves' Reggie Allen. However he actually scored a takedown near the end of third period but the referee took it away which would have gave SAU another win in the dual.
