Dayton, TN- The St. Andrews University men's basketball team fell 59-52 to conference foe Bryan College (Tn.) on Saturday in Dayton.
St. Andrews got off to a strong start as they led by 8 midway through the first half and 31-29 at halftime as they shot 45 percent in the first half. However, Bryan would then turn up the defense holding the Knights to just 34.6 percent shooting in the second half while allowing SAU to only shoot 2 of 16 from three-point range that half. St. Andrews was 6 of 10 from three in the first half though before cooling off.
SAU's defense again came up big and kept them in the game as they held the Lions to just 32 percent shooting for the game and only 26 percent from three. However, Bryan outscored the Knights in free throws 18-6 making the difference in the seven point win.
Bryan (10-10, 6-4) was led by forward Brandon Cole's double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds while St. Andrews was led by freshman guard Titus Gary's 20 points (5 of 14 from three) and 7 rebounds. Junior guard Aaron Smith also had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals as they were the only two in double figures.
St. Andrews falls to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in the league and will next face Milligan College on the road on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
