Columbia, SC- The St. Andrews University men's basketball team played the second half of their game with Columbia International University Tuesday night. It was the game that was originally postponed on Dec. 14 due to a leaky roof. However, the Knights could not cut into CIU's 4 point lead at halftime when the game was called and fell 82-78.
After a first half that saw CIU take a 44-40 lead on great shooting by both teams, St. Andrews could only manage a 34 percent shooting in the second half as compared to 50 percent in the first half. SAU made more shots this time than CIU, but the Rams shot an impressive 86 percent from the free throw line (13 of 15) in this half as compared to only 46 % for the Knights making the difference.
The first half saw the Knights shoot 54 percent from three (7 of 13) but they dropped off to 40 percent this time for a 47.8 percent total for the game while CIU was a little less only shooting 43% for the game from three. St. Andrews was led by 20 points from freshman guard Titus Gary as he led the Knights with 4 three-pointers while guards Aaron Smith and Jamal Watson each made 3 threes as well as they both finished with 13 points apiece.
Junior guard Jibri Banner led with 4 assists and 3 steals while forward David Jones had 7 points, 5 rebounds, and a block.
The Rams were led by Joe Isenhour's 21 points and 7 rebounds as they improved to 4-8.
St. Andrews drops to 2-11 overall and will next travel to Tennessee to face Bryan College at 2 pm on Saturday.
