Bristol, VA- The St. Andrews University Women's basketball team was defeated 84-63 to the Virginia Intermont Cobras in AAC action on Saturday afternoon.
After a competitive first half saw the Lady Knights trail only by three 34-31, the Lady Cobras came out firing in the second half as they shot an impressive 60% to put the game away. VIC scored 50 points that half while shooting 51% for the game and holding St. Andrews to 35% in the second half and 38% for the game.
VIC was led by 18 points from Radville Autukaite and a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds from Kiara Cruse.
St. Andrews was led by sophomore guard Mercedes Smith's 14 points on 50% shooting (2 of 2 from 3-point range) and 4 assists and freshman guard Kayla Johnson's 10 points and 3 steals. Junior guard Karin Law also had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals as well.
VIC improves to 4-5 and 1-5 while the Knights fall to 4-5 and 2-3 in the conference.
St. Andrews will complete their December schedule when they hit the road to play Columbia International University (SC) (0-8) next Saturday at 2 pm.
