Men's Soccer - Thu, Nov. 14, 2013 by Troy Baranik

Dayton, TN- The St. Andrews University Men's Soccer team lost 1-0 to Virginia Intermont College in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on Thursday evening at Bryan College.

VIC (7-8-3) will now advance to the conference finals on Saturday evening to play the winner of the Bryan vs. Point semifinal.

St. Andrews ends the season at 7-11-2 as they finished just a goal shy of advancing to their first ever conference finals.

VIC's Austin Dunleavy scored in the 62nd minute of play as his shot just caught the back of the net past Knights keeper Leandro Custodio. Custodio ended up making 5 saves on 6 shots on goal while the Cobras outshot the Knights just barely, 13-11 overall.

Juniors Caio Liberatti and Edwin Mwangi led with 3 shots apiece.

St. Andrews had a few chances to tie it at the end, but could not quite find the net as a free kick by sophomore Breno Calegari just glanced wide of the net.

Junior defender Brandon Standridge and junior midfielder Martin Phillips were also named to the AAC All-tournament team.

The Knights put up a valiant effort in this year's tournament as they made it to the final four and will look to come back even better next season.
