Columbia, SC—The St. Andrews University volleyball team lost a tough battle to one of the top teams in the AAC on Tuesday evening as the Lady Knights fell in 3 sets to Columbia College.
In SAU's first road game in over 3 weeks, Columbia was able to use their massive height and frontline players and 44 total kills to oust the Knights 25-20, 25-15, and 25-14 as the Koalas improved to 9-2 in the conference and 9-9 overall.
SAU was led by their frontline hitters Taylor Clay, Anne Patterson and Kendelyn Wheaton and their 4 kills apiece while freshman hitter Tessa Smith had the best all-around game with 3 kills, 3 aces, 8 digs, and 1 block. Libero Ayanna Lindborg also led with 14 digs while freshman Nora Darrhar also had a good night with 3 kills, 8 assists, 9 digs, and 2 aces on the night.
St. Andrews (6-13, 2-9) will remain on the road to challenge William Peace University (17-3) on Thursday evening at 7 pm in Raleigh in a rematch from earlier this season when Peace topped the Knights in 4 sets.
