Greensboro, NC—The St. Andrews University swimming team competed at their first event since bringing the sport back to St. Andrews as they traveled to the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the NC College Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

This event consisted of teams from NCAA Division 1 including NC State, Duke, East Carolina, Campbell, Davidson, and Gardner Webb. Division 2 teams consisted of Wingate, Queens, Pfeiffer, and then Division 3's Greensboro College.

The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team competed hard in this event finishing in 10th place out of 26 teams with time of 1:28 and consisted of freshmen Jacob Anderson, Drew Gurley and Garrett Ocker, and junior Teodoro Boscaino.

Freshman Georgi Krastev led the Knights in the 100 yard backstroke by placing 4th overall in 52.3 seconds among all Division 1 and D-2 competition, by far the highest placement of the weekend for SAU.

Krastev led SAU again in the 200 yard backstroke with a 9th place overall finish (4th in D-2) with a time of 1:55 while Boscaino came in 16th overall (6th in D-2).

The men did well in the 200 yard individual medley as 6 Knights competed including the top finisher, freshman Ryan Frayne, who came in 16th place (4th in D-2) with a time of 2 minutes even.

In the men's 50 yard freestyle, SAU's Anderson placed in a respectable 11th (3rd in D-2) out of 46 with a time of 21.7 seconds while freshman Josh Dixon came in 19th (5th-D-2) in 22 seconds.

In the men's 400 meter medley relay, the Knights finished in 15th place out of 28 (4th in D-2) with a time of 3:34 and consisted of Krastev, Frayne, Gurley, and Boscaino.

In the men's 100 yard butterfly Krastev finished 25th overall (7th in D-2) with a time of 54 seconds. Then in the Men's 200 yard freestyle, Boscaino finished 16th overall but 4th among D-2 teams with a time of 1:46.

In the women's 100 meter breaststroke, freshman Irina Vogt came in 37th overall but 8th among D-2 teams with a time of 1:14. In the men's 100 breaststroke, Frayne came in 22nd overall and 9th in D-2 with a time of one minute.

Finally, in the men's 100 yard freestyle, Ocker led the Knights with a 19th place overall finish (5th in D-2) in 48.6 seconds.

The Swim teams are next competing on the road in a meet vs. Limestone College October 19th at 1 pm.
