Mt. Olive, NC— The St. Andrews University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference bout to former rival Mount Olive College 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Mount Olive, the former Conference Carolinas rival, did all of their scoring in the first half as they were able to get on the board twice in the first 15 minutes of play to take a commanding 2-0 lead. They would then go on to score once more in the 38th minute and go up 3-0 at halftime.
After sophomore keeper Brittany Roberts gave up 2 goals but made 4 saves, she was replaced by junior Jessica Griffith midway through the first half. Griffith then was able to make 6 saves only giving up the one goal.
Freshman Alejandra Bittelman led with 2 shots attempted while sophomore forward Jessica Martinez and freshman Nicole Bass each had one shot apiece. Mount Olive's goalkeeper Stephanie McCoy was able to complete a shutout as SAU could not find the net on her.
MOC improves to 2-6-1 with the win while SAU falls to 3-7.
The Lady Knights will next take on conference foe Montreat College (6-4, 4-1) on Saturday at 2 pm in Montreat, NC.
