Cleveland, GA—The St. Andrews University women's soccer team lost a close battle to conference foe Truett-McConnell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Georgia.

Knights' sophomore forward Jessica Martinez got SAU on the board first with a goal in the 31st minute off an assist from senior midfielder Catherine Lovallo.

St. Andrews would take this lead into the halftime. However, Truett came out stronger in the second half as they scored two goals in 7 minutes by Joy Smith to take the 2-1 lead with 26 minutes to go.

St. Andrews would get some shots off as they mounted a rally but it was to no avail as they fell 2-1. Truett-McConnell improved to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the league.

Peck and Martinez led with 2 shots apiece, but SAU was outshot 17-9 on the afternoon including 11 from TMC's Smith.

Knights' goalkeeper Jessica Griffith made 3 saves on 5 shots on goal.

St. Andrews (3-6, 2-3) will next hit the road to face non-conference opponent Mount Olive (1-5-1) on Tuesday at 7 pm.
