Men's Soccer - Tue, Sep. 24, 2013 by Troy Baranik

Aiken, SC- The St. Andrews University men's soccer team played a great first half and was keeping up with the tough Division 2 Pacers of USC-Aiken on Monday evening until Aiken's offense decided to wake up and go on to beat the Knights 5-0.

After a scoreless first half, Aiken's Sajih Daychourn scored in the 69th minute to break the draw before the Pacers came right back 2 minutes later to go up 2-0 on the Knights. After gathering all this momentum, Aiken would then add a third goal just 6 minutes later.

Then with 6 minutes remaining in the game, Aiken's Gabriel Locher would add on two more on Knights sophomore keeper Chase Keeney in a span of two minutes to make the final tally of five goals.

The Knights could only manage 6 shots on the night and just one on goal by junior midfielder Edson Quinarelli while junior forwards Caio Lima and Caio Liberatti led with 2 shots apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Leandro Custodio allowed 2 goals and made 2 saves while Keeney allowed three goals while making 4 saves as USC-Aiken (2-3-1) really picked up their attack in the second half with 12 shots taken.

St. Andrews (3-6) will next hit the road to face conference foe Truett-McConnell (Ga.) (3-3) at 2 pm on Saturday.
