Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University volleyball team faced a tough opponent on Tuesday evening as the Lady Knights dropped their fourth conference game falling in 3 tough sets to AAC foe Columbia College here at Harris Court.
Columbia won the first two sets by the same score of 25-13 before the Lady Knights tried to rally in the third set by putting up a great fight. However, they could not extend the match to a fourth set and fell 26-24.
Senior middle blocker Kendelyn Wheaton, and current player of the week at St. Andrews, led the Knights with 7 kills while also contributing 5 total bocks, including 3 solo ones. Also playing well was libero Nora Darrhar who had 10 digs and a service ace while fellow libero Sierra Barnedo also had 10 digs.
Junior Taylor Clay also had 4 kills and a solo block awhile freshman Anne Patterson had 4 kills and 4 total blocks on the night.
With the loss, St. Andrews drops to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the AAC while Columbia improves to 4-7 overall and 4-1 in the league.
The Lady Knights will continue their long homestand when they host Milligan College (TN) (5-10, 1-2) on Friday evening at 6:30 pm here at Harris Court before hosting Virginia Intermont (5-4, 3-0) at 12 pm and Fayetteville St. (1-2) at 4 pm on Saturday.
