Laurinburg, NC- St. Andrews University Director of Athletics Glenn Batten has announced the hiring of Lexi King as the new head women's lacrosse coach for the Lady Knights.

"I am pleased that Coach King will be joining St. Andrews University. Her experience as a player and coach made her a great match for our program. She understands our commitment to the NAIA and character-driven intercollegiate athletics," Batten said.  

"I am so very excited to become a part of the St. Andrews' family. I want to thank Glenn Batten and Associate Director of Athletics Elizabeth Burris for giving me such a great opportunity," King said. "St. Andrews' commitment to academics in correspondence with athletics is a focus I hope to continue to enhance.  I am excited to begin my journey with St. Andrews and the women's lacrosse program. They have a reputation of excellent athletics and I am thrilled to be a part of it." 

The Woodstock, Georgia native comes to St. Andrews from Shorter University (Ga.) where she served as the assistant lacrosse coach for 2 seasons while attaining her Master's Degree in Leadership from 2011-2013. While at Shorter, King was responsible for coordinating travel arrangements for away trips, recruiting, fundraising, and was in charge of goalies and other positions while monitoring athlete's academics. She is also still a club coach for Thunderbird Travel Lacrosse, a summer ball team.

Prior to King's position at Shorter, she graduated with honors from Lees-McRae College (NC) in 2011 with a B.S in sport management while acquiring a minor in business administration in just 3 years time.  She was a member of the dean's list while also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and also on the Conference Carolinas honor roll throughout her career.

While at Lees-McRae she was a starting member of the NCAA Division 2 program from 2008-11 where she totaled career stats of 52 goals, 25 assists and 77 points in 41 gmaes played while also leading her team in draw control wins with 45 in 2009.
