The St. Andrews University Women's Swim Team has exciting news as Head Coach Brooks Teal announces the signing of Junior College All-American Trinity Counter. Counter is from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and swam last year at Daytona State College in Florida.
Triniti had a stellar career at Scottsbluff High School, qualifying for the Nebraska State Championships all four years, and scoring in the top 12 as a sophomore, junior and a senior. She set school records in 2009 in three events, the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 yard freestyle and as a member of the 200 yard medley relay, and held those records through 2012. Triniti was captain of her high school team as a junior and a senior, and was twice named the Western Nebraska Female Athlete of the Year, in 2011 and 2012.
At Daytona State College, Triniti made a huge impact in only one season and achieved All American status in four events. At the 2013 National Junior College Championships, she placed 6th in the 100 Fly, 9th in the 200 Free, and 12th in the 100 Free. Counter joined with her Daytona State teammates to score three silver medal finishes, in the 200, 400, and 800 free relays. Triniti also excelled academically, being named to the Dean's List in both semesters.
"Triniti is a great addition to our women's team," said Coach Teal. "Her collegiate experience at Daytona State, combined with her leadership and athletic ability, will all be great assets for St. Andrews as we work to establish the foundation for a successful program. I am delighted that Triniti has chosen to join the Knights!"
