Belleville, IL- The St. Andrews Women's Lacrosse team dropped their opening game at the National Tournament Thursday afternoon as the Indiana Tech Warriors were able to knock the Knights into the loser's bracket with a 24-5 victory in the quarterfinals in wet and ugly conditions.
Indiana Tech (13-2) got off to a strong start as they forced the Knights into mistakes throughout the first half and took a big 17-4 lead at intermission.
IT's Alexis DiGiovanni and Player of the year Kendall Guthrie led the way with four goals apiece while GK Ashley Elvey recorded four saves for the Warriors.
SAU junior and AAC Player of year Catherine Lovallo recorded three of the Knights goals on the day, while junior attack Jackie Jones and junior defender Arianna Vicari had a goal apiece. Meghan Powell owned all nine saves on the day for St. Andrews.
St. Andrews falls to 9-9 on the year and will next face Emmanuel College (GA) (2-10) on Friday at 3:30 pm ET in the consolation bracket. SAU previously beat Emmanuel earlier this season 19-10. Tenn. Wesleyan (5-9) faces Midland, Neb. (8-6) in the other consolation match.
