St. Andrews University Head Swim Coach Brooks Teal continues to add to the 2013 recruiting class with the signing of Jacob Anderson of West Springfield High School and Springfield, Virginia, bringing the total to five men signing scholarships to swim for the Knights. Anderson had an outstanding high school career, under coaches Karen Spooner and Kristy Kellogg, achieving All-American honors for the 200 Medley Relay, All-Metro Honorable Mention, and team MVP his senior year. Jacob is the Springfield school record holder in the 50 free and swam legs on both the school record 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay.
Jacob also swims for Coach Pete Morgan on the Nation's Capitol Swim Club, one of the top USA clubs in the country. Nation's Capitol won the combined team title at the 2013 NCSA Junior National Championships with Anderson a part of the gold medal winning 200 Free Relay. Jacob coaches a summer league team and conducts a winter program for those swimmers to continue their development in the sport. At St. Andrews, Jacob plans to pursue a pre-med science degree.
"Our goal is that St. Andrews swimmers be leaders in the classroom and community as well as in the pool. With an outstanding student-athlete like Jacob Anderson joining our program, I am positive that we are heading in the right direction," commented Coach Teal.
