St. Andrews University Head Swim Coach Brooks Teal has announced the signing of his fourth recruit for the new St. Andrews University Men's Swimming program, to begin competition next fall, Drew Gurley, from Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia.

Gurley was the MVP for Warwick High in 2012 and 2013 and was named Most Sprited in 2013.  Competing for Warwick, Drew  was a 10 time district champion, 6 time regional medalist, and qualified for the Virginia State High School Championships all four years.  Drew's USA Swimming club is the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins, where he achieved NCSA junior national qualifying times in seven events.  Gurley is active outside of swimming, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, and the Salvation Army.

"Drew Gurley is an outstanding athlete and an outstanding young man.  He is extremely versatile, with times that are already competitive at NAIA nationals in free, fly and the individual medley," Teal says. "Not only will Drew be an immediate scorer at nationals, his ability to swim many different events will be a great asset to the team dual meets.  I am excited about the leadership ability that Drew will bring to St. Andrews Swimming."
