Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University Women's Lacrosse team won their second straight NWLL game and their 8th game overall this season as they rolled to a 19-10 victory over Emmanuel College (GA) Friday afternoon at Knights Field.
The Lady Knights got off to a very fast start as they scored 5 goals in the first 7 minutes of play to race out to a 5-0 lead. They then kept pouring it on and took a 13-5 halftime edge over the Lions.
Five different Lady Knights scored including a team-leading six from senior midfielder Victoria Bickett while midfielders Catherine Lovallo and Shana Schroeder each scored four apiece. Schroeder led with 7 assists as well as she now has the team lead in points on the season with 54 while Lovallo leads in goals with 36.
Junior attacker Jackie Jones also got in on the action with 4 goals and 2 assists while freshman Anastasia Schultz scored her 2nd career goal on a free position shot in the first half.
Bickett led on draw controls with 7 while Lovallo and Schroeder each led with 7 ground balls. Sophomore defender Arianna Smith also played a good game as she was able to force 3 Lion turnovers while collecting 5 ground balls and a draw control.
SAU out shot Emmanuel 26-21 on the afternoon while also outdistancing themselves in draw controls by a count of 15-8 and in assists from 11-2. Senior GK Meghan Powell also played well in making 11 saves on the afternoon.
The #4 Lady Knights improve to 8-1 overall on the year and now have 5 wins over NWLL opponents while Emmanuel drops to 0-8 overall in their first year ever having a women's lacrosse team.
St. Andrews will next have a week off before traveling to Tennessee to play a doubleheader vs. conference rival Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday March 22 at 4 pm and then #3 ranked Indiana Tech on Saturday at 2 pm.
