Laurinburg, NC- The #7 ranked St. Andrews University women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten on the season as they won a close game 17-15 over #4 ranked Aquinas College (Mich.) Thursday evening at Knights Field.

Senior Megan Jolly led with 6 goals while fellow senior Shana Schroeder scored 5 and collected 9 groundballs. Junior Catherine Lovallo scored 4 goals and had 10 ground balls with 5 draw control wins as she improved her team-leading goal total to 26. Jolly and Schroeder are now tied for 2nd on the team with 23 goals while Jolly leads in points with 41.

Defender Ramsey Vogt also led with 10 ground balls and 6 caused turnovers while junior attacker Jackie Jones played well in collecting 7 ground balls, forcing a turnover, scoring a goal and logging 2 assists.

Goalkeeper Meghan Powell played extremely well today as her 18 saves kept the Knights in it throughout. Powell had only given up 8 goals over the first 52 minutes until Aquinas picked up their pace as they started to get desperate and began to score on some defensive breakdowns and transition opportunities.

SAU traded goals for awhile with Aquinas in the first half until the Knights were able to score the last three of the half to go into intermission with a 5 goal lead. They continued to pile on the goals even stretching their lead to 8 with just 15 minutes to play until Aquinas started to rally.

Aquinas falls to 1-1 with the loss.

SAU (6-0) will next travel to Georgia to face #1 ranked Shorter University (4-2) on Monday at 4 pm.
