Women's Lacrosse - Mon, Mar. 4, 2013 by Troy Baranik

Laurinburg, NC- The #7 ranked St. Andrews University women's lacrosse team won their fifth straight game to start the season as they rallied from an early first half deficit, which was their first all year, to come back and win handily 20-12 over Siena Heights University (Mich.) Monday afternoon at Knights Field.

Senior Megan Jolly led the SAU offense scoring six goals along with a team-leading 4 assists and 6 ground balls to improve her team-leading point total to 34. Junior Jackie Jones also stepped up scoring 6 goals on 8 shots with 4 ground balls and 3 draw control wins to lead the Knights offense.

Junior Catherine Lovallo extended her team-leading goal total to 22 with her 4 goals today while senior Shana Schroeder added 3 goals with 3 assists, 5 groundballs and 5 draw control wins.

SAU caught themselves trailing for the first time all year as Siena Heights (0-3) started out on fire jumping out to a 5-2 lead just ten minutes into the game. However, the Knights offense could not be held down for long as they went on to score the next 6 goals unanswered to take an 8-5 lead before eventually continuing their scoring and taking a 12-8 lead into intermission.

Senior midfielder Ramsey Vogt also added a goal, 3 ground balls, and 4 draw control wins.

Junior defender Shiloh Kozlowski also had a good game as she caused a few Saint turnovers while recording a season high 6 ground balls and 2 draw controls.

The Lady Knights ended up outscoring the Saints 13-3 since their 3 goal deficit as this was a great tune up game before St. Andrews gets their first tough game of the season when they will do battle with undefeated and preseason #4 Aquinas College (Mich.) on Thursday at 4 pm at Knights Field.
