Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University women's lacrosse team won their frist conference game of the season Saturday afternoon as they outplayed their rivals from Tennessee Wesleyan 17-8 here at Knights Field to remain undefeated on the season.

Senior Victoria Bickett led the SAU offense scoring five goals along with 6 draw control wins while five other Knights were able to get on the board multiple times to lead SAU'S balanced scoring attack.

Senior midfielder Shana Schroeder had another impressive game scoring 3 goals with 3 assists, 2 caused turnovers, 2 ground balls and a team-leading 7 draw control wins. Junior Cat Lovallo also played well scoring 3 goals along with a team-leading 6 ground balls.

Today's game was SAU's first real test of the season and it showed early as the Knights were able to jump put to a quick 2-0 lead. However, TWC fought back making it 4-2 midway thru the first half before SAU's scoring attack took over as they went on to outscore TWC 7-3 the rest of the half to take an 11-5 lead at intermission.

TWC (1-2, 0-1)scored the first goal of the second half just a mere 1 minute into play cutting their deficit to 5 before the Knights piled on the goals scoring 6 unanswered ones to give SAU a double-digit lead with 10 minutes to play.

Lady Knights goalie Meghan Powell also was very sharp today as she made 9 saves on 17 shots while Bulldog goalie Paige Falkowski gave up 11 goals in the first half before being removed.

Seniors Megan Jolly and Ramsey Vogt also scored 2 goals apiece while Jolly had 2 assists and 5 ground balls. Junior Jackie Jones added 2 goals, 2 assists, and 3 ground balls.

With Jolly's good game she now takes over the points lead for the season on the team with 24 (11 goals and 13 assists).

Junior defender Ariana Vicari also had a good game as she caused 3 Bulldog turnovers while recording 5 ground balls.

St. Andrews remained undefeated on the season at 4-0 as they improve to 1-0 in the conference and will next continue their three game homestand when they host Siena Heights (Mich.) on Monday at 4 pm.
