St. Simons Island, GA-- The St. Andrews University Men's Golf team finished in a tie for fourth place out of 15 teams at the Coastal Georgia Spring Invitational on Tuesday after shooting another 308 in the second round for a two day total score of 616.

After senior Matthew Latham shot an impressive 70 in round 1 to put him in 2nd place individually, he fired a 72 on Tuesday to fall 2 shots shy of the winner and finish in 2nd place overall with a total score of 142.

Freshman Robbie Wilkie and junior Dakota Brown also performed well as each shot 79s in the first round and then both shot 79s again in the second round for a two-day total of 158. Matthew Forbis shot a 78 in round 2 to finish in 2nd place on the Knights team with a total score of 158 while sophomore Matthew DeGiorgio improved by 14 shots in round 2 to shoot a 79 and two day score of 172.

Other St. Androids playing in the tournament included Andrew Primeau, who fired a 75 today to improve his score by 15 shots from day one along with Richard Caisley, who fired back-to-back 82s, Ben Martinez, who shot a 77 in rd. 1 and 78 in rd. 2, Patrick McCleary, 85 and 80, and James Simms, who shot 85 on day one and a 79 on day 2.

 

Faulkner University (Ala.) won the tournament while their top player Daniel Jansen placed first overall.

The SAU Men's golf team is back in action March 10-12 when they travel to Oldfield GC in Okatie, SC to play in the Sand Shark Classic hosted by USC-Beaufort.
