Laurinburg, NC-- The St. Andrews Women's golf team hosted the St. Andrews Winter Golf Classis February 2-3 at Scotch Meadows Country Club in Laurinburg, NC.  Teams competing included Appalachian Athletic Conference member Tennessee Wesleyan College, Sandhills Community College of Pinehurst, St. Andrews, and two individual players from UNC-Pembroke.

The teams faced cold and windy conditions over the weekend, with frost delays both days.  Once competition began, it was a very close race for the team title, as Tennessee Wesleyan opened a 7 shot lead over St. Andrews on Day 1 with a score of 354 to 361 for St. Andrews.  Play on Day 2 saw St. Andrews make a great effort at a comeback victory as they shot a team total of 358 to 363 for Tennessee Wesleyan, but it was not enough as TWC's total score of 717 was 2 shots better than the Lady Knights' 719.

In the individual title competition, St. Andrews golfer Laura Kinsman shot an opening round 77 to secure a 5 shot lead, then followed with a second round 79 to distance herself from the field and pull out an 11 shot victory over second place Abby Shipley of UNC-P.  Laura's two day total was 156, as Abby shot 82-85 for a 167 two day total. Kinsman has now won 3 of her past 6 tournaments. In third place was Kim Mitchell of Sandhills Community College with scores of 90 in round 1 and a much improved round 2 of 79. 

St. Andrews also had junior Sadiyya Gillespie in a tie for 5^th overall with scores of 87-85 for a 172 total.  Also playing for St. Andrews was sophomore Christina Agosto with scores of 91-99, and freshman Sheridan Dillon-Robinson with scores of 106-95. 

The Lady Knights next travel to Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA on Feb. 17-19 to take part in the SCAD Spring Invitational at the Savannah Harbor Golf Club.
