Milligan, TN- The St. Andrews women's basketball team went on the road to challenge the #23 ranked team in the nation on Tuesday evening but came away with another loss as they fell 81-53 to Milligan College.
The Lady Knights could not get the ball in the basket in the first half as they trailed 46-23 at intermission. However, they played better in the second half as their defense seem to pick up and only lost by 5 in half #2 as senior forward Kimayah Fulcher led with 10 points as she shot 5 of 7 overall (71%). Sophomore guard Hayley Lowe was crisp from 3-point range as she managed to make 3 of 5 for 9 points. Freshman forward Alexus Davis also led with 7 rebounds to go along with 6 points on 3 of 5 shooting. Freshman guard Kerri Snipes led with 3 assists and 5 boards as well.
The Lady Buffaloes had a balanced scoring attack for the game with star guard Kayla Kelly scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Milligan had 11 different players score tonight but could only win the rebounding battle 41-39.
Both teams struggled from the 3 point line as each could only manage 5 apiece. The difference was Milligan's overall shooting percentage which was at 48% while SAU's was only 31%.
St. Andrews drops to 3-18 and 1-11 in AAC play while the conference-leading Buffaloes improve to 18-7 and 11-1.
The Lady Knights return home this Thursday when they host another tough opponent in Tennessee Wesleyan College at 5:30 pm in Harris Court. TWC is 10-2 in the league and will be a good challenge for the Knights at home.
