Men's Basketball - Sat, Jan. 26, 2013 by Troy Baranik

West Point, GA-- The St. Andrews University men's basketball team faced a very talented team Saturday afternoon as the hot-shooting of Point University were too much for St. Andrews to overcome as they fell 105-69.

Point (15-8, 6-4) is known as one of the bigger teams in the league while they are also one of the best shooting teams from 3-point-range and they put that on display as they eased past the Knights.

The Skyhawk men showed how well they could shoot as they jumped out to a big halftime lead and went on to post a strong 105-69 win.

Freshman point guard DJ Carnegie led the Knights with 24 points including going 3 of 8 from three-point-range while freshman center Chris Orr had 8 rebounds. Junior guards Clavontae Brown and Chris Clay were also in double-figure scoring as they had 13 and 11 respectively.

The Knights, however, could not stop the powerful post games of forward Bernard Parks who lead all scorers with 34 points on 13 of 19 shooting including 6 of 8 from 3 point-range and center Timothy Mitchell who had 25 points and 3 blocks.

The Point men shot 55% overall for the game and an impressive 59% from behind-the-arc as the strong shooting display was just too much for the Knights to overcome.

SAU remains winless on the year falling to 0-18 and 0-10 in the league as they now ready for another tough road battle on Tuesday when they travel to face Milligan College (TN) at 7:30 pm.
