West Point, GA—The St. Andrews University women's basketball team put up a great fight vs. a struggling Point University squad but could not keep their halftime edge and come away with a win as they dropped a 62-58 affair Saturday in Georgia.
The Lady Knights were led by the strong game of senior guard Benee Norton as she scored a career high and team season high of 28 points and also had a team-leading 11 rebounds to log her season-first double-double.
Norton's career day was a season high in points for any Lady Knight so far this year. However, the rest of the team struggled with their shot and fell 4 points shy of topping the Skyhawks.
No other Knight was in double figures as the team could only muster a 32% shooting game overall. Altough, Point was not much better as they struggled all game as well. They were led by 4 scorers in double figures including 16 from guard Raven Bell and 11 from LaQuita Rogers who was 4 of 5 from the field.
SAU falls to 3-17 on the season and 1-10 in the AAC while Point improves to 4-18 and 2-9.
St. Andrews will next travel to conference leader Milligan College (TN) on Tuesday at 5:30 pm to battle the #23 ranked team in the country who are a conference-best 10-1.
