Men's Basketball - Sun, Jan. 13, 2013 by Troy Baranik

Dayton, TN- The St. Andrews University men's basketball team dropped another AAC game Saturday afternoon as the Knights were not able to overcome Bryan's defense and balanced scoring attack as they fell 89-60 in Dayton.

Both teams struggled shooting during the game, but Bryan's 37% was just a tad better then the Knights overall. However, SAU's shooting was much better from 3-point-range where freshman guard Mark McCorkle led the Knights with 13 points and 3 for 5 from 3-point land. Junior guard Orlando Edwards also returned to the lineup and made his presence felt as he also scored in double figures with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

St. Andrews also was very impressive from the free throw line as the Knights were able to knock down 13 of 14 free throws including a perfect 6 for 6 from Edwards.

Freshman center Chris Orr also posted his second double-double of his career with his 10 points and 14 rebounds, a career high. Orr had 2 blocks and 2 steals to lead the Knights as well. Orr is now third in the conference in blocks with 22 and blocks/game with 1.46.

The Bryan Lions were led by the guard duo of Robert Riley and Derrick Walker who each had 18 points while three other Lions were in double-figures. Walker also led with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

St. Andrews drops to 0-15 overall and 0-7 in the AAC while Bryan improves to 7-11 and 3-3.

The Knights are next in action when they return home this Wednesday at 7:30 pm as they play host to Virginia Intermont.
