ATHENS, Tenn. - The St. Andrews University men's Soccer team saw their lead evaporate as they fell 4-2 to conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan University on the road Saturday evening.

TWU 4, SAU 2

St. Andrews got on the board first in the 14th minute on an unassisted goal by junior forward Ricardo Da Silva (JR/Piracicaba, Brazil) to take a 1-0 lead into the break while the shot count was tied at 5 apiece.

The Knights would then add their second goal of the game from sophomore Adams Canales (SO/Albertson, NC) in the 55th minute off an assist from senior midfielder Guilherme Soares (SR/Rio de Janiero, Brazil) as they took a 2-0 lead over TWU. Soares' assist was his 4th of the season as he now has 6 points while the goal from Da Silva was his 2nd of the season while Canales' goal was his first of the season.

Unfortunately, this is where Wesleyan would begin their comeback as they would go on to add four unanswered goals to put the game away including two in a minute span that gave them the lead in the 73rd minute as TWU outshot the Knights 10-6 in the half.

TWU won the shot count just 15-11 while SAU's Da silva led with 4 shots and two on goal which he put away for goals. Forwards Ruben Vaca (SO/Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Julio Rico (JR/Madrid, Spain) also attempted two shots apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Valentino Parini (SO/Milan, Italy) finished with 3 saves on 7 shots on goal.

SAU falls to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference while TWU improves to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the AAC.

SAU will now return home to host Bluefield College (Va.) on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
