GREENVILLE, S.C. - The St. Andrews University men's soccer team dominated throughout in their 3-1 non-conference win over NCCAA foe Bob Jones University (SC) on the road Tuesday evening.

SAU 3, BJU 1

The Knights dominated the shot count and the scoreboard until the Bruins added a meaningless goal in the final 30 seconds.

SAU's junior forward Julio Rico (JR/Madrid, Spain) struck first for the Knights in the first half scoring their goal in the 23rd minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder Ruben Vaca (SO/Santa Cruz, Bolivia). SAU then held that lead into halftime as the Knights outshot the Bruins 7-3.

Ruben Vaca then extended the Knights lead just 6 minutes into the second half in the 51st minute on an unassisted goal. Vaca would then add his second goal of the night and 5th of the season just 15 minutes later in the 66th minute off an assist from Rico to increase their lead to 3-0.

Rico now has 5 points on the season while Vaca leads the team with 12 including a five-point night vs. BJU.

Sophomore goalkeeper Valentino Parini (SO/Milan, Italy) finished with 2 saves on 3 shots on goal as the Knights outshot the Bruins 17-5 overall including 10-2 in the second half. Vaca led in shots with six and three on goal while senior forward Manu Escalera (SR/Valencia, Spain) attempted three shots.

SAU improves to 4-4 overall with the win, their 3rd non-conference win, while BJU falls to 4-7.

SAU will now remain on the road to challenge AAC rival Tennessee Wesleyan (7-4) on Saturday at 3:30 PM.
