CLEVELAND, Ga. - The St. Andrews University women's volleyball team cruised past AAC South Division foe Truett-McConnell Univ. (Ga.) in three sets (25-21, 25-15, 25-19) on the road Tuesday evening to win their fourth straight conference game and third game overall.

SAU 3, TMU 0

Truett and SAU went back and forth in a tight first set until SAU pulled away late to take it 25-21. The second set saw the Knights jump out to a strong 15-5 lead before Truett came back cutting SAU's lead down to five at 20-15. However, the Knights rallied back and took the last five points of the set to take it 25-15.

The final set also was competitive for the first 20 points until SAU went on a mini run to lead 13-9. Truett could never get within three points after that as SAU went on to win 25-19.

Junior middle blocker Destiney O'Kane (JR/El Paso, TX) led the team with 12 kills and just one error to hit .647 with a solo block.

Senior MB Lindsey Wagner (SR/Austin, TX) then added 10 kills while hitting .471 with two digs and a block while senior middle blocker Kiah Cheatham (SR/Kalamazoo, MI) also contributed eight kills with four digs while hitting .636. Fellow senior outside hitter Tessa Smith (SR/Jacksonville, FL) also had nine kills, six digs, and two assists.

Freshman libero Karina Lozada (FR/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and senior DS Austin Payne (SR/Kingsport, TN) then combined for 22 digs.

Sophomore setters Shalia Powell (SO/Dayton, NV) and Brooke Thomas (SO/Brunswick, GA) combined for 34 assists while Powell added two kills, three aces, and six digs.

SAU improves to 7-4 and 4-1 in the AAC while TMU falls to 0-6 and 0-1 in the AAC.

St. Andrews will stay on the road to face NCAA Div. II foe Fayetteville State University on Friday at 6:00 PM.
