LAURINBURG, NC- The St. Andrews University Women's Soccer team dropped their season-opening game at home 3-0 to Div. III foe Brevard College on Saturday afternoon.

Brevard 3, SAU 0

Brevard would score their first goal in the 38th minute as BC beat a diving SAU keeper, senior Rachel Widdicks (SR/Hull, England), to lead 1-0 before adding another goal just minutes later to lead 2-0 at the break.

Brevard would add a final goal in the 80th minute to take the game 3-0. SAU had a few good chances in the opening minutes putting three shots on net and attempting five overall but were stymied for the most part in the second half.

Brevard outshot the Knights 18-12 overall and 12-7 in the second half while senior midfielder Arianna Brown (SR/Freeport, Bahamas) and junior forward Madi Castro (JR/Stedman, NC) led the Lady Knights in shots with Brown attempting four and two on goal and Castro attempting three. Widdicks finished with 7 saves on 10 shots on goal.

SAU, now 0-1, will next remain home to face a Div. III opponent in Methodist University (0-2) on Sept. 13 at 4:00 PM.
