Laurinburg, NC- The St. Andrews University wrestling team pounded the East Carolina University Pirates Sunday afternoon 47-10 on the strength of 4 pins, a tech fall and 3 forfeits.

Junior 125 pounder Chauncey Foster started things off by receiving a forfeit to improve to 7-2 this season. Senior co-captain Sterling Perry then went out and pinned his opponent in 2:47 for his third pin of the season and improves to 6-5. Sophomore 149 pounder Kody Getkin came out and technical falled his opponent 20-4 on the strength of 3 takedowns to improve his team leading total to 25. Getkin is also leading the team in technical falls with 2 and tied with Foster for wins with 7.

Junior James Green then received a forfeit win at 157 lbs. before sophomore co-captain Steffan Baker whooped his opponent with a 29 second fall for his third pin of the year tying him with Perry and Getkin for the team lead.

174 pounder Russell Lindsay also pinned his opponent in 4:36 while sophomore Trent Harris received a forfeit at 184 lbs. Freshman Jared Key finished off the 47-10 win with a dominating pin at heavyweight as Key took down an opponent that weighed 50 pounds more than him 5 times in cruising to a 3:06 fall.

Head Coach Joe Baranik said "our technique was better than our past match and our intensity picked up tremendously today as this was a good tune-up before facing a quality NAIA opponent on Thursday."

SAU (1-3) will continue their homestand by hosting Shorter College (GA) this Thursday December 6 at 7 pm here in Harris Court.
