BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - The St. Andrews University Men's & Women's Outdoor track and field teams both competed at the AAC Championships - at Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC over the weekend. They both came away with 8th place finishes.

The Reinhardt (Ga.) men won the men's title with 194 points with Milligan (TN) finishing second. SAU was 8th out of 11 with 16.5 points while the Lady Knights were 8th out of 10 with 20 points. The Union (Ky.) women won the ladies title edging out TWU.

Junior Zack Castor (JR/Menifee, CA) and sophomore Eduardo Andrade (SO/Mount Holly, NC) led the Knights in the 800 meters with castor finishing in 4th place overall with a time of 1:57.23 for 5 team points as he just missed out on second place by .19 seconds. Andrade then finished 11th out of 22 in 2:05.

Senior Michael Hare (SR/Marlton, NJ) ran a quality 400 meters as well placing 8th overall out of 30 runners with a time of 52.12 seconds for one team point while he also placed 12th in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:08. Fellow senior Chase Kopp (SR/Bealeton, VA) then ran the 10K and placed 12th out of 19 in 37:27.

Freshman Caleb Calderon (FR/Austin, TX) then ran the 5000 meters and placed 17th out of 26 in 17:36.

Castor, Andrade, and Calderon all competed in the 1500 meter run as well, but could earn no team points with Castor finishing the highest in 10th place out of 27 in a time of 4:20.29 while Andrade was 16th in 4:31 and Calderon 20th in 4:35.

On the women's side, senior Claire Hopson (SR/Lancing, TN) and junior Hannah Biddle (JR/Blue Bell, PA) finished 10th and 13th respectively in the 800 meters with Hopson's time of 2:33 just missing the top 8 while Biddle finished in 2:36.

Sophomore Nina Havelka (SO/Charlotte, NC) then placed 6th overall in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.17 seconds for 3 team points while also placing a quality 4th out of 9 in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:10.86 for 5 team points.

In the field events, Senior Kate Neidrick (SR/Shippensburg, PA) placed 13th in the discus throw with a mark of 22.17 meters while she placed an impressive 5th out of 16 in the Javelin throw with a mark of 25.4 meters to earn 4 team points. She finished just 5 meters away from the top mark. On the men's side in the field, freshman Nathan Smith (FR/Bronx, NY) placed in a tie for 7th out of 14 in the triple jump with a mark of 13.1 meters for 1.5 points.

In the relays, both the men's and women's 4x800 meter relay teams came away with 4th place finishes in their respective races. The women ran a time of 10:36 and earned 5 points and consisted of Havelka, Biddle, Hopson, and Danaye Mokma (SR/Supply, NC) while the men finished in 8:14 for five points led by Andrade, Hare, Calderon, and Castor.

The women then placed 6th in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:51 led by the same four ladies. The men were then 5th out of 8 in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:28 and were ran by Andrade, Castor, Smith, and Hare.
