MILLIGAN, Tenn. - The St. Andrews University Baseball team used great pitching all weekend to take 2 out of 3 games from AAC foe Milligan College (TN) on the road Friday and Saturday. SAU held on to win game one 5-3 before their rally fell short in falling 4-3 in game two Friday. They then rolled to the dominating game three win 4-1 on Saturday.

Game 1: SAU 5, Milligan 3

Junior starter Trevor Maly (JR/Channahon, IL) (Channahon, IL) pitched a terrific game allowing only three 7th inning runs on 5 hits with a walk and tied a season-best with 8 strikeouts improving to 3-8 with his 4th complete game lowering his ERA to 4.61.

SAU scored two runs each in the 1st and 2nd innings before adding a third run in the third to take a 5-0 shutout into the 7th inning. However, even with Milligan rallying for 3 runs off Maly, he was able to wiggle out of the inning to pick up the win and the complete game.

Offensively, SAU was led by 3-hit games from outfielders Terrence Jackson (SR/Creswell, NC) and Ryne Dickens (JR/Reidsville, NC) while they both also recorded doubles with the Knights outhitting Milligan 10-5. Jackson drove in two runs to lead the team while Dickens and senior catcher Matt Polak (SR/Smithfield, VA) also drove in runs. Senior SS Tiger Miller (SR/Pleasant Garden, NC) then scored two runs and stole a base while picking up a hit as six of the Knight starters recorded hits on the afternoon with the other two coming from freshman DH Mark Perkins (FR/Concord, NC) and senior 2B Mikey Morgan

Game 2: Milligan 4, SAU 3

Sophomore starter Holden Drake (SO/Burlington, NC) (4-4) managed to last just 2 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs on a walk and a strikeout. Junior reliever Zach Saylor (JR/Jamestown, NC) (team-leading 3.79 ERA) then came into the game in the third to relieve Drake and finished throwing the final four frames allowing just one hit and one run on 2 walks and a K as SAU's 7th inning rally came up short in falling 4-3.

SAU gout out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on RBI singles from senior catcher Hunter Hackney (SR/Vanceboro, NC) and senior 1B Trey Byrd (SR/Sophia, NC) before Milligan rallied for 3 runs in the bottom half on two homers. After Milligan added one more in the third on another solo home run, they took a 4-2 lead into the 7th inning before SAU rallied to score one on a Lee Poteat (FR/Salisbury, NC) RBI single to get within 4-3, but could get no more in dropping game two.

SAU was led offensively by 8 hits from 5 different players while outhitting the Buffaloes 8-5. Poteat, and senior infielders Byrd and Mikey Morgan (SR/Norwood, NC) led with multi-hit performances while Byrd had the only extra base hit with his double.

Game 3: SAU 4, Milligan 1 (9 innings)

Junior starter Landon Kincaid (JR/Morganton, NC) (4-5) threw a complete game 6-hitter in allowing just one run over 9 innings for his longest career start to pick up his 4th win of the season. He walked just one and struck out four in a terrific performance.

Offensively, SAU was led by Justin Williams (SR/Stanley, NC) rbi single and two rbis while Poteat went 3 for 5 with an rbi. Poteat drove in a run with his 2nd inning triple while Miller also recorded a sacrifice fly for an RBI as SAU led 3-0 after 4 innings.

St. Andrews improves to 23-28 overall and 8-16 in the conference to move into 8th place in the AAC. Milligan falls to 22-25 and 10-14 in the conference. SAU remains one game ahead of Bluefield for the final spot in the AAC Tournament.

SAU will now return home for their final week of the regular season to host Div. III Greensboro College on Tuesday at 3 PM before hosting Point University (Ga.) from Thursday-Friday.
