COLUMBIA, S.C. - The St. Andrews University Men's & Women's Outdoor track and field teams competed at the Div. I USC Gamecock Invite on Saturday in Columbia.
Junior Zack Castor (JR/Menifee, CA) led the Knights with a 9th place finish out of 40 in the 800 meters running a time of 1:55.7 break his own school record set two weeks ago at the High Point Meet. Castor also won his heat by a full second which consisted of 12 runners.
Sophomore Eduardo Andrade (SO/Mount Holly, NC) then finished 29th in the 800 meters in 2:06.28 to beat his time from the Lenoir-Rhyne meet.
Senior Michael Hare (SR/Marlton, NJ) would also place 39th in the 400 meters in 54.7 seconds while freshman Caleb Calderon (FR/Austin, TX) ran the 1500 meters and placed 15th in 4:27.47.
On the women's side, junior Hannah Biddle (JR/Blue Bell, PA) finished 29th overall in the 1500 meter run in 5:41.9 while sophomore Nina Havelka (SO/Charlotte, NC) then placed 22nd overall in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:13.42 while she was 7th in her heat. Havelka ran her second best time of the season and just missed breaking her school record of 1:13.41 set this year at the UNCW meet on March 11.
The teams will next compete this coming weekend at the AAC Championships - April 21 and 22, at Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC.
