KINGSPORT, TN - The 12th seeded St. Andrews University women's basketball team lost their first round AAC Tournament game to 5th seeded Tennessee Wesleyan 75-58 on Wednesday morning at the MeadowView Marriott in Kingsport, Tenn.

The Lady Knights got out to a 17-12 lead after the first quarter before TWU rallied to put together a big second quarter outscoring the Knights 28-12 to take a 40-29 halftime lead shooting 45 percent while SAU shot 36.7 percent

The Knights shot 32 percent overall and 23 percent from three-point range while TWU shot 50 percent overall, and an impressive 47 percent from three while only committing 11 fouls. SAU also shot 10 of 11 (91%) from the free-throw line.

The Lady Knights made five less turnovers than the Bulldogs while picking off TWU with 17 steals. TWU only managed five steals against the Knights.

SAU was led by freshman point guard LeeAysia Williamson (FR/Greensboro, NC)'s 22 points and a team-best six steals along with two rebounds and two assists. Williamson finished her first season averaging 17.3 points/game (five games with at least 30 points) and 2.6 steals/game including 16 steals over her last three games as she also made the AAC All-Freshman team as well as making the AAC all-conference second team.

Freshman guard Victoria Washington (FR/Fredericksburg, VA) then finished with 14 points (4 of 10 from three), five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block as she was also named to the all-conference freshman team.

Junior forward Ellen Dukes (JR/Augusta, GA) would also add 7 points and 9 rebounds while senior guard Kayla Johnson (SR/Greensboro, NC) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and a terrific five steals in her final collegiate game. Johnson was also named to the Champions of Character team while guard Kelsey Houser made the all-academic team.

SAU falls to 5-23 overall while TWU improves to 16-13.

Tennessee Wesleyan will next advance to the conference quarterfinals to face 4th seeded Bluefield College tomorrow morning.
