LAURINBURG, NC - The St. Andrews University women's basketball team could not overcome the Rams as they fell by 13 points 49-36 to conference foe Bluefield College (Va.) at home Wednesday evening.    

St. Andrews got out to a slim halftime lead at 17-14 as both teams struggled mightily to shoot the ball in the first half. SAU outscored the Rams 11-3 in the first quarter before Bluefield won the second just 11-6. SAU shot 25 percent while Bluefield was held to just 15 percent in the half.

Bluefield then came back in the third quarter outscoring the Knights 22-10 and finally 13-9 in the fourth to go on for the 13 point win. The Knights missed all but three shots in the second half going 16 percent overall and 20 percent from three while BC shot 35.5 percent, but just 26 percent for the game.

SAU was led by freshman point guard LeeAysia Williamson (FR/Greensboro, NC)'s 12 points as she struggled form three-point line as she was the only one in double-figures. She finished with five rebounds, three seals, and two assists.

Freshman guard Victoria Washington (FR/Fredericksburg, VA) then finished with 9 points four rebounds and a season-high five steals along with her two 3-pointers.

Junior forward Ellen Dukes (JR/Augusta, GA) then posted a team-high 10 rebounds with five points, two assists, and two blocks while freshman forward Kayla Smith (FR/Lynchburg, VA) scored 4 points with five rebounds, two steals and an assist.

SAU falls to 5-21 overall and 2-19 in the conference with the loss while Bluefield improves to 16-12 overall and 12-9 in the AAC.

SAU will next be in action when they remain home to host Allen University (S.C.) on Senior Day Saturday at 12 p.m.
