LAURINBURG, NC - The St. Andrews University women's basketball team could not complete their rally as they fell by 11 points 75-64 to conference Truett-McConnell University (Ga.) at home Wednesday evening.    

Both teams played a competitive first half with SAU leading after one 15-13 before SAU extending their lead to five early in the second. The Bears then clawed back to take a 37-31 halftime advantage shooting 52 percent while SAU shot a respectable 47.6 percent.

The second half then saw the Lady Knights rally winning the third quarter 23-19 to trim the deficit to just two points at 56-54. Unfortunately, SAU's offense went cold in the fourth as Truett clamped down on defense to outscore the Knights 19-10 and go on for the win.

Truett shot 49 percent for the game while SAU only managed to shoot 41.7 percent but went 8 of 17 from the three-point line led by freshman guard Victoria Washington (FR/Fredericksburg, VA)'s 16 points on 4 of 5 shooting from three. She also tallied seven rebounds two assists and a steal while senior guard Kayla Johnson (SR/Greensboro, NC) also added 16 points as they both led the Knights in scoring.

Junior forward Ellen Dukes (JR/Augusta, GA) then recorded another double-double as she scored 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with an assist, and two steals as she posted a solid game. Freshman point guard LeeAysia Williamson (FR/Greensboro, NC) added 15 points and five rebounds with a team-best four assists and four steals as she was in foul trouble most of the first half. Junior guard Taylor Sehm-Crowley (JR/Concord, NC) also added four assists.

SAU falls to 5-19 overall and 2-17 in the conference with the loss while Truett-McConnell improves to 15-12 overall and 11-8 in the AAC.

SAU will next be in action when they return to Tennessee to play at Tennessee Wesleyan University on Saturday at 12 p.m.
