LAURINBURG, NC - The St. Andrews University women's basketball team gave every last ounce of effort in a heartbreaking 69-67 loss to conference leader Reinhardt University (Ga.) before an enthusiastic crowd at Harris Court.

The Lady Knights amazingly almost pulled off the upset, finishing the game with only four players on the court due to three players fouling out.

St. Andrews came out strong leading by as many as 10 points with just 4:37 left in the 2nd quarter, and actually led 39-34 at halftime.  SAU shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to Reinhardt's 43 percent.

Reinhardt came storming back in the 3rd quarter making up the 5 point deficit and taking a five-point lead of their own to close the third leading 54-49.  SAU showed great resilience coming back to take a one point lead with just 8 ticks on the clock.  It wasn't meant to be, however, as Reinhart's Erika Woodfin hit her only basket of the game, a 3-pointer with just 0.4 seconds left for the game-winner.

SAU freshman point guard LeeAysia Williamson (FR/Greensboro, NC) led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 5 steals.  Senior guard Kayla Johnson (SR/Greensboro, NC) contributed a season-high 18 points shooting 50% from the field and 10 for 11 from the stripe.

Junior guard Taylor Sehm-Crowley (JR/Concord, NC) came in off the bench to add 9 points, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds while freshman forward Kayla Smith (FR/Lynchburg, VA) put in two baskets along with two free throws giving her six points for the night.

Williamson and Johnson were the only Knights to finish in double-digit scoring.  Williamson has now scored over 20 points in five of her last 7 games.

SAU falls to 5-17 overall and 2-15 in the conference with the loss while Reinhardt improves to 22-3 overall and 14-3 in the AAC.

SAU will next be in action when they travel to Bryan College (TN) on Saturday to take on the Lady Lions (11-12) at 12 pm.
