Men's Basketball - Tue, Nov. 13, 2012 by Troy Baranik

Mars Hill, NC—The St. Andrews University men's basketball team continued their road trip Tuesday night as they dropped their third game of the season 105-83 to Mars Hill College.

Junior guard Kenton Chan-Man scored 33 points on 12 of 19 shooting in defeat as he tried valiantly to help keep SAU in the game throughout.

Trailing at the half 47-34, the Knights got off to a good start in the second half as they trimmed the lead down to 9 at 77-68 with 7 minutes to play before Mars Hill's hot shooting picked up as they went on a 28-15 run to end the game.

Mars Hill (1-0) had 4 players in double figures, including two that scored over 20 points while they shot 50% from behind the arc and 58% overall for the game led by the 4 three pointers made by Mars Hill guard Jalen Witherspoon. The Lions were also able to out rebound SAU 41-31 due to the 6'8" height of center Khouraichi Thiam and his double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Also leading the Knights was freshman guard DJ Carnegie as he scored 15 points while senior forward Demetrius Monroe had 7 rebounds.

The Knights were able to improve their shooting in the second half by 6 % but their defense suffered as a result leading to the double digit loss in the end.

SAU (0-3) will remain on their road trip as they next travel to Newberry, SC to battle Voorhees College in a neutral site game on Saturday, November 17 with tip set for 4 pm.
