JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.- The St. Andrews University men's and women's Golf teams competed in their opening tournament of the season on Monday before inclement weather canceled the second day of the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational.

Teams could only finish about 9 holes on Tuesday in the second round before thunderstorms canceled the rest of play.

Individually, SAU was led by senior Carlo Stella (SR/Milan, Italy) who finished 7th for the men.

The men were led by Stella who shot rounds of 71 and 72 on Monday to place 7th with a score of 143, the highest score from an AAC school and just six shots behind the winner, from Lindsey Wilson.

Senior Daniel Wieck (SR/Oviedo, FL) then finished in 13th place with scores of 70 and 75 for a 145. Freshmen Marten Lofas (FR/Gothenburg, Sweden) and Zach Laws then each came next finishing 3rd and 4th on the team as Lofas shot 74-79 (153) for a 43rd place while Laws was 78-76 (154) for 52nd.

Sophomore transfer Harry Smith (SO/England) then came next in 60th overall and 5th on the team with his scores of 77 and 79 for a 156 while senior Alex Austin (SR/Salisbury, NC) was right behind him in 66th out of 90 at 77-80 (157). Following them were sophomore Caleb Hensley (SO/Monroe, NC) and senior John Lyle (SR/Goodview, VA) in 70th with 158s. Hensley was 81-77 while Lyle was 80-78. Sophomore Alberto Firpi (SO/Puerto Rico) also shot 92-86.

Point University (Ga.) was the top finisher in the AAC finishing 3rd out of 16 with SAU trailing in 7th after rounds of 293 and 300. AAC's Milligan also finished 14th.

The men next take to the links on Sept. 19-20 at the Queens University Fall Invite in Kannapolis, N.C.
