Whispering Pines, NC- The St. Andrews University women's golf team won the Sandhills Invitational on Tuesday by outdistancing themselves from the runner-up Sandhills C.C. by a whopping 71 strokes 529-600.
Sophomore Laura Kinsman placed second overall by shooting a 43 on day one and then 76 on day 2 while junior Sadiyya Gillespie shot 46 and 79 in round 2 for a fourth place finish.
Also competing for the Knights was Sheridan Dillon-Robinson who shot 46-93 while Christina Agosto shot 50-96.
The Men's Team finished second overall losing to the champion Sandhills C.C. by a mere 3 strokes, 457-454.
The SAU Men were trailing leader Wake Tech by 10 strokes on Monday but came back to top the third place team by 16 strokes on Tuesday.
Matthew Latham finished 2nd overall by shooting a 37-75 while Dakota Brown came next with 38-77. Andrew Primeau followed him with 40-76 with Matt DeGiorgio shooting 41-77 and Robbie Wilkie putting up scores of 37-82. James Simms also competed individually as well but did not factor in the team results.
The Golf team next competes in the Montreat Fall Invitational in Brevard, NC at Glen Cannon CC. The women compete on October 19-21 at 8 am while the men are a week later from the 26-28th.
